Jewgenij Kissin
Piano Recital
Since Jewgenij Kissin’s first European concert in 1988, the Russian pianist has been viewed as a musical prodigy. He was just 17 years old when he performed Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on stage with the Berlin Philharmonic and Herbert von Karajan. Kissin’s technical brilliance and deep and profound access to music still convey the impression that one is in the presence of a creative process. Kissin understands playing not only as the loyal rendition of notation, but as a true creative act. Perhaps that is why piano composers such as Chopin, Schumann and Scriabin, who are also included on the programme in the Laeiszhalle, are dear to him.
