International Mendelssohn Festival
Hensel / Poulenc / Bernstein
A dream finish
In festive mood and with a large body of musicians, the International Mendelssohn Festival ends with a programme dedicated entirely to the composer-conductor Leonard Bernstein and the philosopher Voltaire: »Let dreamers dream what worlds they please; / Those Edens can’t be found. / The sweetest flowers, the fairest trees / Are grown in solid ground.« The closing concert begins with one of the last and greatest works by Fanny Hensel, the Piano Trio in D minor of 1847. An idea of the International Mendelssohn Festival to place Fanny Hensel’s music in ever new contexts.
