Funkelkonzert L / Twinkle Concert L / La balle rouge et quatuor
Concert for Children: Ages 5-7
When mum and dad break up the world is suddenly turned on its head. Is it my fault? Or theirs? Or…? The hit Luxembourgish production »La Balle Rouge« (The Red Ball) approaches this sensitive topic from a child’s perspective.
Two geometric forms come to life on a large screen, moved and animated by puppeteers. They fall in love and, with the birth of their child, form a family. Everything is bright and happy to begin with, but over time things become grey and gloomy. Yet something still shines brightly: a large red ball. This is the symbol of the parents’ love for their child, which endures forever, even when the adults decide to go their separate ways.
With the Philharmonie Luxembourg’s »La Balle Rouge«, the Elbphilharmonie presents a quiet, gentle story about life. It is the serious yet playfully narrated tale of a family’s feelings, both great and small. The music is performed by the French bandoneon player Jacques Trupin, accompanied by a string quartet.
