Frielinghaus Ensemble
New year’s concert
Musical proofs of love
Since the opening of the Elbphilharmonie, the ensemble led by Hamburg violinist and ECHO Klassik prize winner Gustav Frielinghaus has been a regular guest at the Elbphilharmonie with its New Year’s Concert. The Süddeutsche Zeitung described the recently released sextet CD »Souvenir de Florence« as »passionate and tender« and Radio Bremen spoke of »uncanny power and a great deal of pleasure in making music«.
The programme of the New Year’s Concert 2024, in instrumentations ranging from duo to quartet, alternates back and forth between works by Clara and Robert Schumann, tracing their multifaceted artistic and love relationship alongside romantic melodies and harmonic twists.
