European Union Youth Orchestra
Elbphilharmonie Summer
- Livestream
Jean-Claude Juncker once described it as »the best ambassador for the European Union«: the European Union Youth Orchestra, founded in 1976. The orchestra is made up of 140 musicians aged 14 to 24 from all 28 member states of the EU. Their current programme, which they rehearsed under French conductor Stéphane Denève, ranges from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, where the soloist is Andreas Ottensamer, and Mahler’s famous Fifth Symphony to contemporary music by Guillaume Connesson.
