Erregung Öffentlicher Erregung

Spirit of the 1980s – with a modern twist
»Their songs dance somewhere between society, politics, emotion and the banal,« writes Deutschlandfunk about the band eloquently known as Erregung Öffentlicher Erregung (Incitement of Public Incitement). The attitude of the quintet, based in Hamburg and Berlin, is reminiscent of punk and Neue Deutsche Welle bands like Ideal or Fehlfarben. After several EPs, Anja Kasten (vocals), Michael Hager (guitar), Laurens Bauer (bass), Michael Schmid (drums) and Philipp Tögel (synthesiser) present their first album entitled »EÖE«, which has a do-it-yourself character and features many danceable works as well as serene, spherical-sounding pieces. The 20 songs deal honestly and directly with issues ranging from self-alienation to what it feels like to no longer be in your early 20s. After a break due to the pandemic, the band finally gets to share the music on their album live with the audience some two years after its release.
