Breath is the central element of Mark Andre’s compositions, breath in the finest nuances, from soft breathing to noisy snorting. Riccardo Minasi sends a fresh breeze swirling around the Beethoven memorial. Beethoven was an advocate of individual freedom who would have liked to grab fate by the throat. Two different spirits, then: one wants to make the air do his bidding, the other won’t let himself be blown over so easily.

Johannes Fischer conducts the new work by Mark Andre in the first half of the concert. Riccardo Minasi then takes over the direction for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in the second half.
