Corsican rarities

Over many centuries, a unique vocal tradition developed on the island of Corsica. Paghjella is a polyphonic, unaccompanied form of male-voice singing about love, nature and times long past, but that also explores sacred themes. After almost dying out, this singing art is now experiencing another heyday – not least thanks to groups such as A Filetta, who have made an outstanding contribution to the musical heritage of their native island since the late 1970s. Together with Ensemble Resonanz, A Filetta now brings this captivating and multifaceted art to Hamburg, and juxtaposes it with Italian Baroque and contemporary music, including a work for both ensembles by Catherine Lamb.
