Elbphilharmonie Revisited
Exhibition / 10 February to 1 May 2017
Description
For many centuries, artists have responded directly to architectural contexts. Through their works they try to blur or even dissolve the boundaries between visual art, architecture and design. To mark the official opening of the Elbphilharmonie, international artists invite the public to take a completely new look at the architectural project of Hamburg’s new concert hall – as a human, musical and political space. The exhibition »Elbphilharmonie Revisited« runs in the Deichtorhallen from 10 February to 1 May 2017.
With this large-scale show, the Deichtorhallen break new ground, presenting works developed specifically for the exhibition that go beyond the current perception of the Elbphilharmonie and look into the future. International artists have been invited to contribute, taking their inspiration from the test phase of the building lasting several months prior to the opening. The participating artists work in a wide variety of different media: the spectrum ranges from photography and large-scale installations through to sculptures and film.
The exhibition is being held in the Contemporary Art Hall (Halle für Aktuelle Kunst). Opening times are Tuesday–Sunday, 11:00 to 18:00.
