»Ein Händchen für Beethoven«

To mark Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday, the ARD invites you to the »Beethoven Experiment – The ARD’s Week of Music« in January 2020. Numerous concerts, as well as various other ways of encountering Beethoven’s music, are held across the whole of Germany. The NDR asks: »Can you give Beethoven a hand? Give it a try!« NDR musicians will be there with help and advice for an adventurous audience, encouraging them to play the piano. And how could you bring things to a close without a concert in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall? Under Petr Popelka, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra performs Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, compared to which – according to the writer Karl-Heinz Ott – »every rock song sounds like a lame duck«.
