Dorothee Oberlinger / Ensemble 1700
Telemann Festival
Telemann is a composer dear to recorder virtuoso Dorothee Oberlinger’s heart: »I’ve felt a close bond with Georg Philipp Telemann’s works since my childhood, and they have played an important part in my life as a musician ever since«. For her concert as part of the Telemann Festival, Oberlinger has put together a programme of works that feature unusual instruments and boast great stylistic variation.
Among the pieces performed are two double concertos, one for recorder and bassoon, and another for recorder and baroque flute, a concerto for trumpet and solo violin, and a viola concerto. Right from the beginning of the programme Telemann is shown to be a composer who is comfortable borrowing from the national styles of all the European countries.
