Die Kameliendame / Filmgespräch mit John Neumeier
In Conversation with John Neumeier and Jörn Rieckhoff
It’s nearly 40 years to the day since ballet icon John Neumeier created one of his most successful choreographies, »Die Kameliendame«. Some ten years after the first performance, Neumeier went on to make a film of his work with the world-famous ballerina Marcia Haydée. As part of the Elbphilharmonie+ programme, John Neumeier talks to Hamburg Ballet’s Head of Communication Dr. Jörn Rieckhoff about how the choreography and later the film came about, and extracts from the film will be shown. Please note that this event is in German.
The Elbphilharmonie’s supporting programme offers a variety of different angles on the music performed – either to complement the concert itself, or as an experience in its own right. As a rule, the Elbphilharmonie+ events are interdisciplinary in nature: exhibitions, talks to accompany a particular concert or events featuring flamenco dancing or scat singing. They take place in the Elbphilharmonie itself in some cases, as well as in museums, libraries and local culture centres.
