Das Alte Werk / Festival »Lux aeterna«
With a PhD in classical languages and having studied composition and the harpsichord, the Italian musician Marcello Di Lisa has unearthed a number of lost Baroque musical scores with his historically informed ensemble Concerto de’ Cavalieri. Among his most celebrated rediscoveries is the opera composer Tomaso Albinoni. Thanks to Marcello Di Lisa and the Portuguese soprano Ana Quintans, the artistry of Albinoni’s arias and coloratura has become immensely popular. »A magnificent CD for musical explorers« – the press was full of praise for the Albinoni recording released in Marcello Di Lisa’s much-lauded series »The Baroque Project«. The Concerto de’ Cavalieri now celebrates native-born Venetians Tomaso Albinoni, Antonio Caldara, Baldassare Galuppi and Antonio Vivaldi by performing some of their less-well-known sacred and secular (vocal) works.
