Benjamin Britten and Michael Tippett were the first important English composers of the 20th century to respond in their works to the political events of their time. Two of their best known and most moving works of confession can now be heard with an all-star cast conducted by Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, namely Britten’s »Sinfonia da Requiem« and Tippett’s oratorio »A Child of Our Time«, both written around the year 1940.

Please note: Talise Trevigne has regrettably been forced to cancel her appearance in this concert due to illness. Soprano Claire Booth has kindly agreed to step in.
