Cecilia Bartoli: La Cenerentola
Fiery, Rossini-esque coloratura at its finest
»La Bartoli« in a tumultuous comedy of mistaken identities with fiery, Rossini-esque coloratura at its finest – the semi-staged anniversary performance of »La Cenerentola« offers everything a belcanto fan could wish for.
Two hundred years after the premiere of Gioachino Rossini’s masterpiece, the protagonists of the Zürich Opera House’s renowned old ensemble reunite to celebrate one of the most famous fairy-tale operas in history – with only implied scenery but performed with playfulness and mastery.
This is a chance not only to experience the amazing Cecilia Bartoli performing as Cinderella in one of her most famous roles. The tireless explorer of the baroque repertoire and advocate of a historically informed performance practice also develops a new »Cenerentola« sound. Les Musiciens du Prince à Monaco, a baroque ensemble under Cecilia Bartoli’s artistic direction, is the opera orchestra. Tonally transparent, vocally divine and dramaturgically sophisticated, Rossini’s classic work becomes an intelligent and profound musical experience.
