The audience called Yuja Wang back to the stage for a whopping eight encores after her last performance in ProArte’s »Master Pianists« series. A great and unique moment in the 60-year history of the venerable cycle. High time then that the American-based Chinese pianist returns to this side of the pond for a follow-up to her Hamburg success of 2016. When travelling such long distances, for her the journey is also the destination to a certain extent because she describes the time flying above the clouds as her personal »quality time«. But as soon as her feet are back on the ground, she can feel a tingling in her fingers: the stage is her natural environment. That is the only place she, with her brilliant, charismatic playing, can give others the feeling of flying above the clouds.
