The war years entailed a double fight for survival for Dmitri Shostakovich. On the one hand he was exposed to German attacks during the siege of Leningrad and had to compose while grenades exploded nearby, and on the other, the Damocles sword of Stalin’s reign of terror hung over his head. In his Eighth Symphony he officially reflected on the horrors of war.#übelst_unverstärkt presents musicians of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in the intimate setting of a club: they perform classical chamber music repertoire live in the club Uebel & Gefährlich. During talks and interviews the audience can get to know the orchestral musicians, famous conductors and soloists of the classical music world better.
