The peak of perfection in summer music. While Felix Mendelssohn still seems to wallow in gentle melancholy in his masterful Violin Concerto, his incidental music for Shakespeare’s »Midsummer Night’s Dream« is a tribute to the short nights of summer – a time in which it is particularly easy for magical beings to befog young people. As you’d expect, the buoyant »Wedding March« makes an appearance, however the other numbers are also real hits. The actor Hans-Jürgen Schatz’s recitation evokes the right images on the cinema screen of the mind.
