CANCELLED: Richard Reed Parry / stargaze

A man and his instrument, a stethoscope in his ears with the resonator inside his shirt, just like the other musicians on stage. They are all listening to their own heartbeat while they play Richard Reed Parry’s »Music for Heart and Breath«. Parry is the man on bass and guitar who became world-famous as the founder and multi-instrumentalist of the band Arcade Fire. In 2014 the artist from Ottawa, Canada released his first solo album, on which various ensembles, the Kronos Quartet among them, present the piece that reflects the body rhythms of the individual musicians. For the German premiere of »Music for Heart and Breath« in 2014 Parry enlisted the cooperation of artists’ collective stargaze, with which he also performs other pieces from his pen this evening.

The project is part of the culture program related to Canada’s Guest of Honour presentation at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2020. We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Government of Canada.
