CANCELLED: NDR Bigband / Geir Lysne

When Geir Lysne invited Icelandic singer Ragnheiður Gröndal to contribute to his Iceland programme two years ago, he had found a voice that was the archetypal embodiment of his vision of the Arctic Circle: rooted in tradition, yet explosive and lyrical at the same time. With »Polar Soundscapes« he picks up the thread of the special sound of the North Pole region again and tries to portray in music his own picture of it, with its stark contrasts between solitude and lyricism and the brutal force of sublime nature, together with guests from Iceland. In addition to Gröndal and percussionist Helge Andreas Norbakken, Lysne is joined by Arve Henriksen on trumpet und Ståle Storløkken on keyboards.
