As a result of the new Germany-wide coronavirus restrictions that have been issued, all concerts in the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle have been cancelled until 20 December 2020. This event has had to be cancelled. If you bought your tickets in the Elbphilharmonie’s online shop, you will be refunded the purchase price via the payment method used for the original booking – you don’t need to do anything. You’ll find further details on refunds on the following page: Information on refunds for tickets to cancelled events Why would an ensemble that made its name performing rarities from early and contemporary music then turn to the most successful oratorio of the Baroque? Ensemble Resonanz would presumably answer, »Christmas without the Christmas Oratorio is only half the story. As often as you may have heard or played the piece, you still want to hear or play it again.«

The ensemble has been performing its own version of Bach’s Christmas classic for five years now – pared down and with unconventional instrumentation, a little like a concert at home for friends. The concert hall becomes a sitting room, the musicians become a choir, and the work becomes chamber music with Baroque violas, electric guitar and vintage keyboards.
