»Belief« in all its facets is the theme of the »Hamburg International Music Festival« this year. Without her faith, the festival’s spotlight composer Sofia Gubaidulina says she wouldn’t be able to create her art. Her connection to Christian theology manifests itself in a number of the titles of her works, for example, her piano concerto »Introitus«, which refers to the entrance in the holy mass. The meditation on the Bach chorale »Vor deinen Thron tret’ ich hiermit« is also a testament to her beliefs – a musical confession of faith that needs no words. The Ensemble Resonanz and its long-standing guest conductor Riccardo Minasi combine the two works with motets by Antonio Vivaldi.
