Description

»What he does with his hands is technically unbelievable. And his touch – at once full of tenderness, and yet with that devilish quality. I’ve never heard anything like it.« Even the great Martha Argerich is totally enthusiastic when talking about her young Russian colleague Daniil Trifonov. Trifonov was born in 1991, and you can hardly talk about him »striking« the piano keys – he positively caresses the piano, evoking an intriguingly rich palette of sounds. Trifonov performs Mozart’s piano concerto KV 466, accompanied by the esteemed Academy of St Martin in the Fields and conducted by its founder Sir Neville Marriner, celebrating his 90th birthday with this festive concert. The British musicians also present Mozart’s popular »Haffner Symphony« as well as Haydn’s »Nelson Mass« commemorating the victory of Admiral Nelson and the Royal Navy over Napoleon.
