Celebrated Italian conductor Claudio Abbado has died aged 80 on January 20th. His death means a great loss for the musical world. Claudio Abbado was music director and conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, of the Vienna State Opera and the Berlin Philharmonic. His lifelong commitment – with special regards to music of the 20th century – has opened up new worlds for generations of music lovers. The concert during the first Hamburg International Music Festival, scheduled for 7th June, has been canceled. Tickets can only be refunded at the box office where they were issued. Tickets bought on the Internet can be returned to Elbphilharmonie Kulturcafé, Barkhof 3, 20095 Hamburg under specification of account details.
