CANCELLED: Klaus Maria Brandauer / Sebastian Knauer
The concert programme of the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle cannot go ahead as planned due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This event has had to be cancelled – it will not be rescheduled on an alternative date. Ticket buyers will be informed directly.
When Klaus Maria Brandauer comes on stage, he is still Klaus Maria Brandauer – but not only him! He also throws himself with heart and soul into the character he is portraying, in this case Richard Wagner. In his mid-twenties Wagner wrote a story entitled »A Pilgimage to Beethoven«, in which he describes a trip to Vienna to meet his idol Beethoven. At the end of their wild discussions, he wins over the composer to a new kind of opera dramaturgy that – surprise surprise! – is very similar to the operas he was later to write. The amusing tale from Wagner’s pen is garnished with short piano pieces by Beethoven, which Sebastian Knauer deftly weaves into the narrative.
