A varied start to the new year
The Symphoniker Hamburg kicks off its New Year Concert with George Enescu’s »Romanian Rhapsody No. 1«, celebrating the culture of this great musical nation. It is followed by the » Piano Concerto No. 23« by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in which the pianist Lucas Debargue performs with the Symphoniker Hamburg under the principal conductor Sylvain Cambreling. Finally, Igor Stravinsky’s »The Firebird« orchestral suite dating from 1945 can be heard: a fiery, almost intoxicating start to the new year, with ballet-like sounds that conjure up images of a Russian fairytale realm in the mind’s eye.
Please note: Due to a case of death in the family, Lucas Debargue has to cancel his participation in this concert at short notice. Alexander Melnikov takes over his solo part in Mozart’s piano concerto.
