From the New World

A candidate for the »Big Five« list of top American orchestras, the outstanding Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is bringing a selection of music from the New World to its ProArte concert in the Elbphilharmonie. Not only that, the orchestra is joined by Augustin Hadelich. One of the best violinists of our time, he is respected worldwide for his brilliant tone, dazzling technique and deeply moving performances. Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto demands all of this and more from its soloist, giving Hadelich the chance to fully showcase his talent. The concert opens with Carlos Simon’s »Four Black American Dances« and ends with Antonín Dvořák‘s Symphony No. 9 »From the New World«. Together with Barber’s masterpiece from 1939, these works offer insights into three different centuries of America’s varied musical heritage.
