He possesses »perhaps the most beautiful violin tone of all« and is a true audience favourite. As Artist in Residence, Hadelich can be heard four times at the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle – as a soloist with major orchestras, in all-star duos and trios
According to the Fono Forum magazine, Augustin Hadelich has »perhaps the most beautiful violin tone of all«. Since winning the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis in 2006 (held only every four years) he has been counted among the very finest in his field. Born in Italy to German parents, he grew up on a vineyard in Tuscany and, nurtured by music-making at home, soon revealed himself to be a prodigy. Today, he teaches at Yale and performs regularly with the world’s leading orchestras in its most renowned concert halls. Audiences at the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle have already been captivated by his stage presence on several occasions, and he now returns as Artist in Residence. His programme showcases his full artistic range: from Barber’s romantic Violin Concerto and major sonatas by Brahms and Prokofiev to Mozart’s elegant violin repertoire with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, of which he is an »Artistic Partner«, and in an all-star piano trio. Despite his success, Hadelich remains approachable, as demonstrated by his YouTube channel »Ask Augustin«, where he shares practical advice for young budding violinists.
