Description
Classical pianist Olga Scheps, British composer Alexis Ffrench and »Britain’s Got Talent« winner Tokio Myers: three musicians who share a love for the piano come together to present their ideas about the »New Sound of Classical«.
Olga Scheps, who caused a stir in the classical charts in 2016 with her album »Satie«, includes classics by Bach, Chopin and Beethoven as well as works by contemporary composers such as Sven Helbig in her programme.
Alexis Ffrench is one of the UK’s most successful composers. His Sony debut »Evolution« reached the top 30 in the UK pop charts alongside albums by Drake, Eminem and Bob Marley. Ffrench weaves influences from their music with traditional classical sounds, and creates his »New Sound of Classical« with the piano, strings and electronics.
Like Olga Scheps and Alexis Ffrench, Tokio Myers also studied the piano. He is the pop star on the piano, combining pop influences with classical passages. In his medleys he blends elements from Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack to »Interstellar« with the Rag’n’Bone Man hit »Human«. Tokio Myers’s sound won him the »Britain’s Got Talent« show in 2017.
