So klingt die Ostsee

The NDR Jugendsinfonieorchester, conducted by Stefan Geiger, performs Jean Sibelius’s Second Symphony at the Elbphilharmonie as part of the »Sea of Music« initiative. Despite originating in the bleak climate of Finland, Sibelius’s four-movement Symphony No. 2 is full of variety and the warmth of the sub-arctic summer. Twice a year, gifted young musicians from the area covered by the NDR come together as the NDR Jugendsinfonieorchester. They spend ten days rehearsing together, after which they give several concerts; the Elbphilharmonie is one of the venues.

Please note: This event replaces the cancelled concert from 3 April 2022.
