Webern / Bruch / Brahms
Mit dem frühen Klavierquintett von Anton Webern aus dem Jahr 1907 kann man auf einnehmende Weise den Weg von »üblicher Harmonik« zu ambitionierter Freitonalität erleben: Wird man zu Beginn noch von einem angenehmen C-Dur umgeben, das Klavier und Cello bereiten, so gerät die Musik schon nach wenigen Takten – interessant angeschrägt – aus den wohligen Bahnen heraus. Eine seltene Möglichkeit: Musikgeschichte zum Quasi-Anfassen!
Das Klavierquintett g-Moll von Max Bruch beschenkt das Publikum anschließend mit einem Trauer-Choral der Streicher. Doch auch hier ergibt sich ein spannender Kontrast, wenn das Klavier im wärmsten, innigsten B-Dur übernimmt. Im Scherzo – dem dritten Satz von Bruchs 1881 begonnenem Werk – zirpen Streicher lustigste Kurzeinwürfe in den Raum. Ein bisschen Mendelssohn liegt in der Luft. Hochromantische Kammermusik, die sich immer wieder kompositorisch ausgefochtenen Lebensstürmen widmet.
Und das Klavierquintett f-Moll von Johannes Brahms bringt dann beide Pole zusammen: Das Feuer der Leidenschaft bei Bruch – und die Nachdenklichkeit Weberns. Herrlich reißt die Musik sämtliche Vorhänge verhaltener Liebesbeschwörungen herunter. Und in so manchem Satz scheint es schon fast wie im Jazzclub zu grooven. Ein absolutes Meisterwerk aus der Literatur für Streicher und Klavier!

Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
