Like phoenix from the ashes

To rise like a phoenix from the ashes – something ostensibly lost emerging once again with a shining new splendour. In music, too, this mythical bird has become a paragon of the change associated with becoming and passing away. It has come to symbolise transformational processes. The up-and-coming Irida Trio from Saarbrücken now presents its debut CD »Phoenix«. Johanna Hempen (violin), Oliver Léonard (violoncello) and Alexander Baier (piano) are interested in marrying the contemporary repertoire with works rooted in tradition – thus renewing our perspective on the past through the experience of the present.
