Description

A concert evening that combines history, art, and music in an impressive sound space. The focus is on the world premiere of the vocal cycle »Echoes of Chagall« for bass and piano based on poems by David Simanovich – a new work by composer and pianist Leon Gurvitch.

The premiere will be performed by renowned bass Alexander Roslavets, soloist at the Hamburg State Opera. Roslavets, who has shone on major stages around the world and impressed in projects with artists such as Evgeny Kissin, lends the cycle its extraordinary expressiveness.

The music of »Echoes of Chagall« is inspired by the dreamlike imagery of Marc Chagall, one of the most important artists of the 20th century, and combines sound and poetry to create a moving, colorful experience.

The program is complemented by other important works by Leon Gurvitch, including a piece for string quartet and piano in memory of Janusz Korczak, the courageous educator who gave his life for his protégés, and the Anne Frank Suite, a musical homage to the young girl whose diary moved the world.
