Description

The choir of St. Michael’s Church, known to locals simply as the »Michel«, has a firm place in the Hamburg cultural scene. Under the direction of Christoph Schoener, the 90 plus singers of this choir with a long history not only perform regularly at services of worship, they also give concerts outside the church setting. Their repertoire includes the great Passions and choral works by Bach, Handel and Mendelssohn as well as pieces by contemporary composers. The choir’s regular musical partner is the St. Michaelis Orchestra, which consists of members of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra.
