Oceans in Transition

Boris Herrmann, who lives in Hamburg’s HafenCity, is one of Germany’s most famous professional sailors and was the first German to compete in the Vendée Globe, the toughest regatta in the world. In conversation with his co-author Walter Wüllenweber, he talks about the most beautiful and dangerous moments, the immense mental challenges, and describes the oceans he has crossed. The preservation of these oceans is Herrmann’s great concern. For years, he has been committed to climate and environmental protection. How can we help the oceans? What role do sports and media play in raising awareness? And how can we, as a society and as individuals, actively contribute to preserving the seas?

Please note that the event will be held in German.

The discussion will be moderated by Clara Pfeffer, who has been working as a presenter and capital correspondent for RTL & ntv in Berlin since 2021, focusing in particular on the German government’s climate, economic and environmental policies.
