As Goethe once put it, we hear »a conversation between four civilised people«; the string quartet genre features works where composers at once expressed their deepest emotions, and at the same time experimented with all manner of musical innovations. The Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall is predestined for this intense and intimate genre, with the organic curves of its wooden panelling producing a warm acoustic and atmosphere.
