Artificial Intelligence
For one weekend, visionary artists dedicate themselves to composing and working with »AI«
Artificial intelligence – no other technology is currently generating so much discussion and developing so rapidly. What was pure science fiction just a few years ago is now in everyone’s pocket on their mobile phones: chat bots, AI-supported search engines, voice assistants. It has also long since arrived in art, that sphere supposedly reserved for humans. In three concerts and two additional events, the Hamburg International Music Festival gives an impression of the current state of affairs and takes a look into the future. Keyboard virtuoso Zubin Kanga, for example, wears an EEG cap in »Steady State« and uses his brain waves to interact directly with a computer that generates intoxicating sounds and visuals. Brigitta Muntendorf has had the AI create an entire oratorio, including artificial singing voices and 3D sound. And in its programme, the Decoder Ensemble deliberately questions the use of AI from the perspective of a young generation of artists.
