In England kennt nicht nur das Gesellschaftsleben, sondern auch das Musikleben seinen Ritterschlag – die »Last Night of the Proms«. Wer zum Abschlusskonzert der legendären BBC Promenade Concerts in der Royal Albert Hall eingeladen wird, erhält gleichsam die öffentliche Anerkennung für seine herausragenden künstlerischen Verdienste. Zuletzt, im September 2009, schaffte die junge Trompeterin Alison Balsom als Solistin vor 150 Millionen Zuhörern weltweit die Aufnahme in diesen erlauchten Kreis, nachdem sie im selben Jahr bereits als erste Britin überhaupt bei den Classical BRITs mit dem Titel als »Female Artist of the Year« ausgezeichnet worden war. Die 32-jährige Musikerin, ausgebildet an der Londoner Guildhall School, dem Pariser Conservatoire und bei Startrompeter Håkan Hardenberger, hat damit in einer echten Männerdomäne – den Blechblasinstrumenten – den Sprung an die Spitze geschafft. Und das mit bemerkenswerter Geschwindigkeit und Zielstrebigkeit: Nach Lehrjahren im Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester und im National Youth Orchestra of Britain erhielt sie 2005 einen Exklusivvertrag, der bisher in sechs hochgelobte CD-Einspielungen – von Barock bis Tango Nuevo – mündete. Ihren langerwarteten Kammermusikabend in der Laeiszhalle bestreitet Alison Balsom mit ihrem formidablen Streichtrio und einem Repertoire zwischen halsbrecherischer Virtuosität und klangsinnlicher Intensität.

Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Please note: There are several construction sites in the immediate vicinity of the Laeiszhalle which may make it difficult to get to the concert. Please therefore plan enough time for your journey to the concert.

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
