Yi-Chih Lu / Piano Recital
Chopin / Brahms / Yen / Lu
The pianist Yi-Chih Lu is regarded as one of the hottest talents from his home country of Taiwan. In 2006 he received a prize from the Cziffra Foundation in Vienna for his outstanding interpretation of works by the Hungarian-French composer György Cziffra. One year later Lu won Second Prize at the Sendai International Music Competition in Japan. Yi-Chih Lu dedicates this programme at the Laeiszhalle to the scherzo – originally a cheerful dance form that continuously evolved over the course of music history. Lu combines scherzi by Frédéric Chopin and Johannes Brahms with some playful arrangements of Taiwanese folk songs.
