Music for peace

The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra is a cultural project that stands for dialogue and reconciliation in the Middle East. Formed in 1999 by the star conductor Daniel Barenboim and the Palestinian literary scholar Edward Said, the orchestra consists of an equal number of young Israeli and Arab musicians. After a celebrated performance shortly after the Elbphilharmonie’s grand opening in 2017, the unique orchestra now returns to Hamburg.
