Elbphilharmonie Summer
When conductor Kristjan Järvi comes to Hamburg with his Baltic Sea Philharmonic, founded in 2016, the waves of the River Elbe are reflected in the choice of music: Handel’s »Water Music« serves as an overture to Philip Glass’s »Aguas da Amazonia«, where the founding father of minimal music depicts the nine tributaries of the Amazon in music. In addition, he offers an American update of Vivaldi’s popular masterpiece with his violin concerto »The American Four Seasons«.
