Wallis Bird
Wallis Bird’s roots lie in folk music. She is at home with hand-made music in the style of traditional Irish songwriter culture. In 2007 the Irish singer, who lives in Berlin, released her debut »Blossoms in the Streets«, and the song, which she had produced with her own label Bird Records stayed in the German airplay charts for 20 weeks. A few weeks later she presented her first album, entitled »Spoons«. Irish folk, pop, jazz and rock, where she likes to sing until she is hoarse, combine in Wallis Bird’s music to form a mix that has even been compared to Janis Joplin and Eva Cassidy. She has given more than 600 shows in the last few years, always performing with an incredible level of energy: a couple of concerts in Berlin lasted as long as 12 hours without a break! Wallis Bird can now be heard at the Elbphilharmonie with her new album »Home«.
