Ute Lemper / Kammerakademie Potsdam
Reference Works of Classical Music in a Moderated Concert
She possesses an innate natural grandezza, as well as a charismatic voice, a body trained at dance school in Cologne and a cosmopolitan aura: Ute Lemper was long since established as a star in France and America before she returned in triumph to her native Germany, where she is now feted as »La Lemper« on every visit. The critical texts and melancholy swing music of the successful team Brecht/Weill seem tailor-made for her. Ute Lemper made her first recording of the rarely-heard »The Seven Deadly Sins« in 1990: Brecht’s libretto splits the heroine of the piece into two separate personalities, calling for the singer to show her entire range of expression.
