»Venice« Easter Festival
Dulcians, bombards, lutes… – on this »Venetian Evening« the ensemble Capella de la Torre under the baton of Katharina Bäuml bathes the Recital Hall in an Early Baroque atmosphere typical of the palazzi and churches of 17th century Venice. A concert well-suited for the Elbphilharmonie’s »Venice« Festival.
The eleven musicians present with masterly virtuosity the traditional contest between the »piffari«, as the city’s venerable town pipers were known, and the new-fangled »violinistas«, reproducing as accurately as possible the sound of 17th century ensembles.
In addition to the then popular dance motif »Bergamasca«, festive compositions by Marco Uccellini, Orlando di Lasso and Andrea Gabrieli, among others, can be heard.
