Since then, one of their distinguishing characteristics has been the lack of harmony instruments. A dynamic and energetic exchange, magnificently interwoven themes, and an intelligent game of deception between the voices – this is music that keeps pace with the times.

An equally interesting – yet very different – instrumental line-up awaits the audience after the interval, when the Peirani & Costa duo perform. Vincent Peirani won numerous awards as a classical accordionist when he was still a teenager. There eventually followed a change of musical direction, leading the French musician to win three Echo Jazz Awards. Peirani has enjoyed great critical acclaim across Europe for many years, both for spirited solo performances and for appearances with his band. His trio »Jokers« first got together in 2018 at the NDR Jazz Concerts. The exceptional musical talent, who was born in Niece in 1980, now encounters a fellow musician of the same age who also started out as something of a »wunderkind«.

The Brazilian musician Yamandú Costa has developed and modernised the tradition of Baden Powell, using the guitar to create an independent cosmos that delights audiences around the world. Costa plays with panache and passion, effortlessly blending all sounds and genres into a unique mix. Choro, samba, tango and much more – seasoned with a generous pinch of jazz. Two virtuosos meet for a firework display of improvisation.
