Theo Croker
»LOVE QUANTUM« – Fokus Afrofuturism / Fokus Jazz Trumpet
Heroic story from isolation
In the period of global isolation resulting from the coronavirus crisis, the trumpeter Theo Croker also opted for personal retreat. His musical objective was to reflect on a life that had come to a standstill – the result are two albums about his African heritage and his identity as a black man. In June 2022, just a few months after his hit album »BLK2LIFE // A Future Past«, he released »LOVE QUANTUM«, the second part of his musical appraisal of the past, present and future of black music culture in the USA.
Discount: By presenting a ticket for this concert you will receive €1 discount on a ticket for the film screening »Space is the Place« at the Zeise Kino.
Croker, who was born in 1985, belongs to the group of young Afro-American jazz musicians like Kamasi Washington and Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah who bring the spiritual approach, the Afrofuturism and the critical, socio-political consciousness of the 1960s into the present.
Theo Croker calls his new album a »tribute to all the different levels of love«: »it’s about how powerful that energy is for us as human beings«. He expresses that with a perfect mix of gospel, blues, jazz, soul and funk – a contemporary sound that leaves all genre boundaries behind.
