Many have said that the Real Group is Sweden’s best musical export since ABBA. The five singers formed the a-cappella group in 1984 when they were studying singing at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. In their efforts to expand the classical repertoire they began to arrange Scandinavian folk, jazz, rock and pop songs – creating a unique musical profile for themselves in the process. They did not have to wait long for success to find them: The Real Group were soon famous in not only Sweden and Scandinavia, but around the world.
