»The Nutcracker and I«

When the nutcracker becomes a prince, the mouse king plots a revolt and all the toys come alive through the flutter of the Sugar Plum Fairy’s wings, then Christmas is right around the corner and Tchaikovsky’s »Nutcracker« is on the programme. With »The Nutcracker and I«, the Romanian pianist Alexandra Dariescu creates a uniquely magical version of the original material – in which she, as the dreaming and slowly aging Clara, takes her place at the piano while Désirée Ballantyne, her alter ego, dances and interacts with the poetic video animations by Yeast Culture.
