With plenty of musical zest and humorous lightness, an all-star line-up brings the »Ganz Wien« festival to a close with a foray through the »world capital of music«. This is an evening of sophisticated Viennese folk music, entertaining ballads and virtuosic instrumental performances, for which numerous artists share the Elbphilharmonie stage.

Jelena Popržan is the viola player with a powerful voice – she delights and enthrals with both a loop pedal and classical singing. The actor and singer Katharina Straßer devotes herself to song culture, and has worked at the Theater an der Josefstadt and at the Volksoper.

Dialect singer Birgit Denk also works to further the cause of Austrian music – in addition to composing for her own band, she has also written songs for famous industry colleagues, and she works in a number of different musical styles.

Without betraying it, the ALMA ensemble has given traditional Viennese folk music a modern guise – and they are currently one of Austria’s most successful world music interpreters.

And then there is Ernst Molden – Wienerlied aficionado and the founder of Molden Resetarits Soyka Wirth – who makes common cause in collaborations with the well-known TV and film actor Ursula Strauss as well as with Nino aus Wien. All in all a real treat!

The »Ganz Wien« festival brings the Wienerlied (Viennese song) in all its forms to the stages of the Elbphilharmonie. A line-up of the contemporary scene’s most exciting artists exudes original Viennese flair and demonstrates the musical treasures the Austrian capital has to offer.
