Please note: Paavo Järvi has regrettably been forced to cancel his appearance in this concert at the Elbphilharmonie due to illness. Conductor Jonathan Bloxham has kindly agreed to step in. The programme reamains unchanged. Tickets retain their validity.

»Committed, colourful playing«, »transparent and full of detail«, »thrilling« – music critics and concert audiences worldwide are unanimous in their enthusiasm for the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. The North German orchestra has often shown how exciting new aspects of apparently familiar music can be discovered through energetic playing and an exceptional sound, for instance in its pioneering recordings of the Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann symphonies. Tonight the orchestra can be heard at the Elbphilharmonie in Schubert’s lugubrious yet immensely popular »Unfinished« Symphony, Mendelssohn’s vibrant First Symphony, and one of the best-known works of the Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür, whose compositions combine traditional musical patterns with polyrhythms and atonal elements.
